✨ Recent site visit 🌟 The work building the sea wall at Cockett Wick is progressing very well and we are very pleased that it is expected to be completed on time.
After the Environment Agency initiated a £10 million project to raise and strengthen the sea wall, TAG Construction Limited got to work providing labour for our client, BAM UK & Ireland. Our teams have been working on the installation of more than 150 steel piles, while over 14,000 tonnes of Norwegian granite has been brought in by barge over six weeks for use as rock armour for reinforcement.
On our visit, the team from TAG Construction Limited were finishing and making good the concrete that has been poured so far and are preparing the final section.
With an eye on the future, these sea defences are designed to be raised again in 50 years’ time to ensure another 50 years of protection whilst maintaining sea views.
The work we do today will help to protect over 3,000 properties and businesses in Jaywick, Essex which represents a huge step forward in providing flood protection for the local community.
