The Silvertown Tunnel aims to reduce congestion and improve connectivity across the River Thames. The project is being delivered by the Riverlinx consortium, with operatives from TAG Construction Ltd working hard to ensure that the project is delivered on time and on budget.
Work on the Silvertown Tunnel is progressing steadily, with the tunnel expected to open in around a year’s time. The construction site is a hive of activity, one operative told us: “The pace of work is amazing. If you have a week off, you have to spend some time exploring the site as so much will have changed!”
The cross passageways for the main tunnel have been excavated, and the fit-out stage has commenced. The control towers, which rise above each entrance north and south of The Thames are having brickwork applied and the cut and cover parts of the tunnel are being poured with concrete for the roofs.
TAG Construction Ltd are working closely with the RiverLinx Consortium, providing both labour expertise and design insight. Our decades of experience enables us to ensure that our operatives carry out work safely and to a high standard. The Silvertown Tunnel will be in operation for at least a century, and we are proud to be involved in projects that will stand the test of time.
