A406 Neasden Superscheme

The Neasden Superscheme brought together three distinct repair packages along the A406 North Circular. At Dog Lane, TAG removed the acoustic barrier and existing vehicle restraint system, saw cut and broke out the carriageway, partially demolished the existing reinforced concrete retaining wall, repaired the construction joint and cast a new RC retaining wall in its place.

At Neasden Iron Bridge, the scope stepped up: removing the existing steel parapet, breaking out the vehicle restraint foundations and the bridge deck's mass fill, refurbishing the bearing shelf access chambers, reinstalling new RC foundations carrying a water main, replacing the deck mass fill to revised levels, and rebuilding the RC abutment retaining wall and expansion joint.

A third package at the Dog Lane Arches replaced the vehicle restraint foundations with new RC foundations incorporating a water main carrier, remediated drainage behind the arch, and repointed and repaired cracks across the brick parapet. Alongside the structural work, TAG also attended to Thames Water breakout and excavation, light column bases, duct installation and paving flag reinstatement.

Three packages, one road, delivered as a coordinated four-month programme that brought the Neasden Superscheme's ageing structures back up to standard.
