Harrow Road Parapet Repairs
FM Conway and AECOM contracted TAG to supply and replace around 140 metres of galvanized vehicle restraint parapet on the A40's Marylebone Flyover, where corroded cast-in ferrous metalwork had damaged the surrounding concrete. The job called for a careful survey of every length of existing steelwork before any material was ordered.
TAG removed the existing steelwork, broke out the damaged concrete sections, shuttered and repaired them with C40 concrete incorporating new stainless steel holding-down bolts, restoring both the structural fixing and the surrounding surface in one pass. Much of the work was carried out at height, in conjunction with a rope access platform team, over a live flyover carrying London traffic below.
The project was split into two phases to fit a very tight programme, with additional concrete repairs to other sections of parapet folded into the same works, keeping the flyover's restraint system to a consistent standard along its full length.
